FSCJ falters to South Florida State

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - FSCJ played host to South Florida State College this weekend in the final weekend of the first half of SunLakes Conference action. SFSC took all three games on the weekend.

South Florida State 11, FSCJ 0

Friday night's game went to the visitors from Avon Park. After a tight game early, the Panthers exploded for 7 runs in the 6th inning to win 11-0. Dylan Dudones (0-4) took the loss on the mound, throwing 5.1 innings, surrendering 10 runs on 7 hits, 4 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Andrew Veniard threw 0.2 innings in relief. Dylan Greene and Tristin Bohler hit safely for FSCJ.

South Florida 6, FSCJ 1

In Game One of Saturday's doubleheader, a 1-1 tie broke open in the 6th and 7th for a SFSC win. Brady Ellison (2-2) threw well on the mound for the BlueWave, going 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs (1 earned), on 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Ethan Wilford threw 1.1 innings in relief, allowing two runs. Carson Womer hit safely while Josh Green had a multi-hit game. Xavier Cintron had the lone RBI.

South Florida 8, FSCJ 5

The series finale turned into a back-and-forth contest. South Florida jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the BlueWave took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Connor Nelson had an RBI sacrifice fly, Xavier Cintron provided an RBI single, and Mac Wilkins contributed a two-RBI single. SFSC tied the game in the 4th and took the lead in the 6th for good. Josh Green hit a solo home run in the 9th for FSCJ, his second of the season. Matt Retamoza, Carson Womer, Jack Gidcumb, Tristin Bohler, and Nelson also hit safely. Colby Lipovsky (0-6) took the loss for FSCJ, going 4.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, 5 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Jayden Long, Dylan Cope, Roman Smith, and Bryce Kemper threw in relief.

FSCJ travels to Ocala on Monday to take on Central Florida at 3:00 PM.
