Sixth inning slug fest steals one from BlueWave

The FSCJ BlueWave baseball team traveled to Lake Sumter State College on Sunday to face them one last time this season.

It was a silent first inning for both teams, until the BlueWave broke the game open in the top of the second. Chad Ragland drew a walk, scoring the first run of three for FSCJ before the inning ended. The game would go scoreless for both sides until FSCJ crossed the plate once again to maintain a 4-0 lead in th etop of the fifth. The bottom of the sixth inning spelled trouble for the BlueWave as the Lakehawks singled on the first pitch at bat scoring two runs. Then growing FSCJ error's mounted in the inning allowing the Lakehawks to amass another five runs to the inning taking the lead 4-8. The Lakehawks added one more to the scorebaord before the BlueWave answered back at the top of the eight adding another run to their side. But Lake Sumter was determined to own the win and put two more up before ending the game 11-5 over FSCJ. 

FSCJ lost the outting despite out-hitting Lakehawks 12 to five. Quinton Brehm started the game allowing two hits and eight runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six. Dillon Richardson threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. AJ Orrico, Trey Spratling-Williams, Logan Nugent and Chad Ragland all managed multiple hits for the BlueWave. Orrico went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead FSCJ in hits.
