Florida State College at Jacksonville head men’s basketball coach John Putyrski has announced the addition of Toriano Andrews as his first assistant coach.

 

Originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia, Andrews comes to FSCJ with extensive experience in the basketball industry, coaching both men and women professionally at the international level. He most recently served as the head coach for Foshan Nanhai University in Guangdong, China for the 2018-19 season.

Prior to Foshan Nanhai, Andrews served as the head skills development coach for the Shanxi XingRui Flames of the WCBA. There he was responsible for providing mentorship and training to players, both on and off the court. He excelled in creating and implementing specialized programs that enhanced player performance and contributed to their overall growth and development. Additionally, he demonstrated his expertise in strength and conditioning, ensuring athletes reached peak physical condition for optimum skill development under his tutelage.

Prior to the XingRui Flames, Andrews spent time as the head coach of Kaiyang Pro Basketball Club, where he served dually as the head skills development coach. This dual role allowed him to provide comprehensive mentorship and support to athletes in empowering them to maximize their potential.

Andrews spent time as a consultant for CBA Northeast Jilin Tigers, acting as the team liaison for foreign aid player development. There he provided specialized services for foreign players on and off the court to ensure they received necessary guidance and support in their professional careers while playing in a foreign country. He played professionally from 1998-2010 with stops in Turkey, Spain, and southeast Asia.

Andrews attended Virginia Union University in 1996-97. He resides in Middleburg, Florida with his wife Kasiah and has four children: Amari, Toriano Jr., Jordun and Skylor.
