FSCJ Volleyball ends the week 2-1

The Florida State College at Jacksonville volleyball program had a busy week hosting three matches.

Competition started on Thursday with a visiting State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF). The four set battle ended in a win for FSCJ, the first at home win this season. Martina Soler led the SCF match at a .315% kill percentage along with 19 digs, 2 block solo and 5 block assist. Yanielly Nieves also led this match with a .310 kill percentage and 4 digs. Stefania Caballero had a .800 kill percentage, 5 block solo and 7 block assist.

Friday followed with another win at home against the Titans of St. Petersburg College. FSCJ kept the momentum going from Thursday and pulled off the win in just three sets.

After back to back wins, FSCJ would drop the third game at home to the Pasco-Hernando State College Bobcats on Saturday. The Bobcats would take the set in three handing FSCJ a loss in the three game home stay.

"We had a tremendous shift this week that kept us on a three game winning streak," said Chelsea Hick, first year head coach at FSCJ. "Our team is finally starting to be cohesive and truly see what they are capable of. From winning on the road last Sunday and then two more triumphs at home, it's good to get that under our belt. Saturday was a tough loss, we just were not competing and the better team won. We have another busy week ahead with three more matches, Tuesday in Walterboro, SC against USC Salkehatchie then travel crosstown to the Trinty Baptist tournament to play host Trinity Baptist College Friday and Andrew College on Saturday."
