BlueWave Athletics announces hiring of Yamileska Yantin as Head Volleyball Coach

The FSCJ Athletic Department announces the hiring of Yamileska Yantin as the Head Volleyball Coach for the BlueWave Volleyball program.

Coach Yantin has recently been serving as the assistant coach for the BlueWave team this spring.  Yantin spent eighteen years competing both in Indoor and Beach Volleyball as a professional traveling the world.  She also played with the Puerto Rican National Indoor Team from 1999-2013 while also playing for the Puerto Rican Beach National Team from 2001-2013.  In 2011, she qualified for the Olympics in Beach Volleyball.  That same year, she made history in her home island of Puerto Rico when she won the Bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Beach Volleyball.

"We are really excited to have Coach Yantin join our athletic department staff", stated FSCJ Athletic Director Ginny Alexander. "She is a highly competitive person and brings a great deal of playing and coaching experience to both the indoor and beach program".

Coach Yantin will be tasked with building an NJCAA Beach Volleyball Team for the BlueWave in the spring of 2021 in addition to serving as the head coach for the indoor team. Currently, Coach Yantin coaches several age groups with Powers Volleyball Club in Jacksonville.  She also served as the Head Coach for the Beach Volleyball Program at Bishop Kenny High School.  Previously, she was the Assistant Volleyball Coach at LaSalle University in Mexico City, Mexico from 2015-2017.  Prior to coaching at LaSalle, she was the Head Volleyball Coach at Jardin de la Merced and with the Vaquueros Volleyball Club in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Coach Yantin has a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education from East University in Carolina, Puerto Rico.
