BlueWave volleyball puts finishing touch on season earning All Conference Honors

The 2019 Florida State College at Jacksonville volleyball team ended the year garnering multiple individual awards.

The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) and the coaches of Region 8 have selected the post season All Conference Teams for 2019. FSCJ was fortunate to have four BlueWave team members selected. Making 1st Team All-Conference for their efforts this season were redshirt freshman Outside Hitter Elizabeth Sandoval (Urapan, Mexico), sophomore Outside Hitter Marine Angely (Sivri, France), sophomore Middle Blocker Jana Cuk (Valjevo, Serbia), and sophomore Libero Krystal Santiago (Corozal, Puerto Rico). Freshman setter Leah Mortenson (Jacksonville, Florida) was named to the All-Conference 2nd Team.

Jana Cuk and Elizabeth Sandoval also earned top spots on the 2019 FCSAA Division I Volleyball All-Region Team.

The BlueWave program led in many categories and received several honors through the season. Sandoval was voted the Panhandle Conference Player of the Year while leading all PHC players with a 3.05 average in kills per set and 2.03 digs per set in conference play. Marine Angely led all hitters with 3.21 kills per game while hitting .308 for the season. Cuk led the team in hitting percentage with .370 while also leading the team with an average of 1.01 blocks per set.  Santiago recently was named the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week (Oct 22) and posted a spot in the 25 dig club six times during the season.  The second year starting libero for the BlueWave ranks among some of the best defensive players at FSCJ with 752 career digs. She ended the season with an average of 5.25 digs per set. Mortenson led the BlueWave in assists for the season with 451.
