Boyd Double-Double;  Cold Start Haunts BlueWave vs Patriots

The Florida State College at Jacksonville women's basketball team couldn't overcome a 46-25 Patriot run in the first half as the BlueWave fell 79-64 on Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, FL.

The BlueWave opened the game with a 2-0 lead after Bryana Henderson scored a lay-up to put FSCJ on the board. Central Florida responded with a 12-2 run to end the quarter with a 20-11 advantage. The Patriots shot 44.4 percent from the field while limiting the Bluewave to 15.4 percent shooting.  Despite a 14-point deficit Rhykeria Rolland and Bryana Henderson combined to score the first five points of the second quarter to make it an eight point game. The Patriots outscored FSCJ 13-8 in the remaining eight minutes to take a 46-25 lead into the break. 

FSCJ began the second half knocking down five of their first seven shots as the BlueWave trimmed the Patriots lead down to 52-41. The Patriots put an end to FSCJ's comeback attempt with a 23-15 rally to end the quarter, pushing the score to 64-79 final in favor of College of Central Florida. 

"Today we started way to slow," stated the BlueWave women's basketball David Lowery "but we battled hard and made a couple of really good runs. We just couldn't match their intensity and physicality consistently enough in the first half. We get a few days off in our schedule now to clean up some things and get ready for our next game at Daytona State.

Leading the BlueWave in scoring was Mataea Boyd with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Teammates Bryana Henderson contributed 11 points, Valaicia Demeritte 10 points, Ryhkeria Rolland 8 points and Joseline Ramos 7 points.
