FSCJ drops all three games against St. Johns River this past weekend

Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) softball took the field against St. Johns River State College (SJR) in a three-game series last weekend. The team traveled to Palatka, FL and then back to Jacksonville last Friday and Saturday.

SJR 13, FSCJ 2

FSCJ in game one on the road struggled in the pitching circle and made errors in the field to help add to the miscues on defense.  FSCJ walked seven and hit four batters. St. Johns River capitalized on that by adding hits to finish with a 13-2 final score in five innings.

SJR 5, FSCJ 3

FSCJ scored first in the 2nd inning with Masey Padgett leading off with a walk, to bring Madi Powell to the plate with one out to hit a base hit, scoring Masey. SJR was held to three up and three down for five straight innings with Ashlee Thomas in the circle throwing a very efficient game. Going into the top of the 6th inning SJR scored all five of their runs with multiple hits off of Abby Rutledge in the circle for FSCJ. FSCJ fell short to lose the game 5-3.

SJR 2, FSCJ 0

St. Johns River scores first in 1st inning. Elder drew a walk from FSCJ pitcher to bring the next two hitters for SJR to the plate to hit a double and a single to bring in a run. FSCJ in the bottom of the 1st leads off with a single by Hannah Steedley, but comes up short and leaving Hannah on base. Going into the top of the 6th inning SJR brings Vallard to the plate and she hits a solo homerun to bring the score to 2-0.
