FSCJ takes two from Florida Gateway College in a 3-game series

Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) softball played Florida Gateway College (FGC) in a three-game series in Lake City, FL this past weekend. Florida Gateway won game 3 on Saturday while FSCJ would claim game 1 and 2. 

FSCJ 7, Florida Gateway 2

Florida Gateway scored first in the 2nd inning when #18 Reese Chatsteen hit a solo homerun. FSCJ scored in the bottom of the 2nd inning with Mykhala Moore leading the inning off with a single, Madi Powell also hit a single to have Takierra Bakken then hit a double to bring Mykhala home to score. Florida Gateway added another run in the 4th inning to bring the score to 2-1. FSCJ added another run to make the score 2-2. FSCJ had a big inning with two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning adding five runs with mulitple hits to bring the score to 7-2 to win the game. Ashlee Thomas pitched a great game with Abby Rutledge coming in to close the game out for the win.  

 

FSCJ 5, Florida Gateway 0

FSCJ takes game two gainst Florida Gateway. Ashlee Thomas pitched six innings of a shutout with four strikeouts to win the game. Abby Rutledge came in to close the game out in the 7th inning to get the save. Brooke Baker and Takierra Bakken were 2-3 at the plate and Sydney Davis was 2-4 with a single and a double. 

 

FSCJ 2, Florida Gateway 8 

Florida Gateway finished the series off with a win over FSCJ, out hit FSCJ to take game 3. Brooke Baker for FSCJ did hit a solo homerun in the 3rd inning. Florida Gateway collected ten hits against FSCJ's pitching staff during the 7 innings played. Kennedy for Florida Gateway hit a solo homerun in the 5th inning.
