FSCJ takes 2 from South Florida in a 3-game series

Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) softball played South Florida State College (SFSC) in a three-game series at home last weekend. South Florida picked up the win in game one before FSCJ captured the next two on Saturday. 

South Florida 7, FSCJ 3

South Florida scored first in the 2nd inning when the lead-off hitter Rohrol was hit by a pitch to give South Florida a baserunner that was brought in with a single and a sac bunt by her teammates. FSCJ did have multiple hitters that contributed to the offense but coming up short to take the loss. Hannah Steedley went 2-4 at the plate, Kayla Robinson went 2-4 at the plate and Madi Powell went 3-3 at the plate with a homerun. 

 

FSCJ 3, South Florida 2 (8 innings)

FSCJ was able to take game 2 from South Florida in the bottom of the 8th inning with Brooke Baker leading off with an error from the outfield that allowed her to reach second base bringing Sydney Davis to the plate with a Sac Bunt that the third basemen overthrew her teammate the first basemen to bring Brooke home to score and win the game. 

 

FSCJ 6, South Florida 5

The BlueWave finished the series off with a win over South Florida. SFSC scored first in the 2nd inning with Rosa leading off with a single to start the inning. FSCJ answered back in the bottom of the 2nd inning with Madi Powell coming to the plate to hit her second homerun of the three game series.  In the 3rd inning FSCJ added two more runs to make the score going into the 4th inning 3 to 1 with FSCJ taking the lead. South Florida answered back in the top of the 5th inning with putting up three runs with Rosa and Underwood both with a single. Going into the bottom of the 5th inning South Florida leads 5-3. FSCJ adds one more run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Going into the bottom of the 7th inning trailing by one run to South Florida, FSCJ brings Sydney Davis up to the plate to hit her way on with a single to bring Kayla Robinson to the plate to hit a 2-run homer to take the lead and win the game.
