Softball splits on the road versus Eastern Florida

The Florida State College at Jacksonville's BlueWave softball team took to the road this past Friday traveling to Melbourne, Florida to face the Eastern Florida State College Titans in a double header.

In the first inning of the first game the BlueWave picked up two quick runs to start things off. Breanna Swanson led the game off with a single that was followed up by Sara Keves knocking in the first run with a double.  Cassidi Beaver hit a single to score Keves. The Titans would answer back immediately with two runs of their own to tie things up at 2. Second inning sung a different story for FSCJ as the Titans were the only team to notch a run to the board. Both teams would remain scoreless until the top of the fourth when Tristan Edwards led off with a single and Joely Leguizamon tied the game with a double. That would be the last play action until the top of the 7th inning when the tie would be broken by a game winning double by Emily Cononie that scored Breanna Swanson to win the game 4-3. 

Collecting hits for the BueWave were Sara Keves, Joely Leguizamon, Emily Cononie, and leading with 3 was Cassidi Beaver. Kelli Johnson was on the mound and credited with the win. 

Eastern Florida came out ready to play in the second game of the day. The BlueWave would place the first digit on the scoreboard with two hits by Cassidi Beaver and a double by Tristan Edwards. The Titans would answer back scoring four runs in the first inning which included a three-run shot. Down 4-1 in the first, FSCJ needed to fight back and picked up 2 more runs in the second inning due to two errors committed by the Titans. The third inning found both teams at a standstill, it wasn't until the bottom of the fourth inning that the Titans would send 12 players to the plate and scoring 6 runs. Up 10-3 the Titans would score the winning run on a passed ball winning the game 11-3.

 The BlueWave will return home for a double header this Saturday versus Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
