Season comes to a close for BlueWave softball

Season comes to a close for BlueWave softball

The BlueWave of Florida State College at Jacksonville faced the Raiders of Seminole State College in what turned out to be their last game of the season. The BlueWave were working to avenge the prior game loss to stay in the hunt of a state tournament appearance, but fell short for this season.

The BlueWave watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 6-0 loss to Seminole. The first inning spelled trouble for FSCJ when the Raiders took the lead on a double that scored two runs and ended the inning with a 2-0 advantage. Florida State College at Jacksonville struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Seminole State as the fourth inning widened the gap. Notching another four runs, Seminole took a 6-0 lead that would keep the scoreboard in their favor until the final out.

Caitlyn Berry led things off in the circle for FSCJ and not a single error was committed in the field for the BlueWave. Joely Leguizamon had three chances in the field, the most on the team.

The BlueWave end their first season campaign under head coach Jan Sikes who led her team to a conference 11-13 finish and 18-26 overall record.
