Softball wins first game of post season playoff

Florida State College at Jacksonville BlueWave softball team finished in 3rd place in the Mid-Florida Conference with a record of 10-13 and 17-24 overall.

Tuesday they hosted the Saints of Santa Fe College in the first round of playoff action. It was a defensive battle that left both teams scoreless late into the fifth inning of play. With FSCJ up to bat in the bottom of the fifth BlueWave catcher Naomi Olacio was at the plate and hit a hard grounder up the third base line. Olacio drove two runs in giving FSCJ a 2-0 lead and shaking up the Saints. Sante Fe would then walk an additional run across the plate to bring the inning to an end down 3-0 to FSCJ. The next two innings would again hold each team scoreless and bring the game to a final close with 3-0 victory in favor of the BlueWave

Sophomore pitcher Caitlyn Berry was in the winning circle for the BlueWave. Berry commanded the mound today and pitched a 1 hitter along with collecting 6 strike outs.

The BlueWave will now travel to Sanford, FL to face the Seminole State College Raiders on Thursday for a double-header at 2:00pm and 4:00pm. The Raiders finished second in conference 19-5 and 42-14.
