Late inning hits rally FSCJ to 7-6 win over the Saints

Late inning hits rally FSCJ to 7-6 win over the Saints

Second game of a double header with the Santa Fe Saints stolen by the BlueWave in late inning action.

Both Florida State College at Jacksonville and Santa Fe College had their offenses going. In the first inning, Santa Fe College wasted not time as their offense was just getting started. An FSCJ error scored one run for Santa Fe. The Bluewave had not answer to the Santa Fe Saint's one run or over three innings. It wasn't until the bottom of the fourth with the score 1-0 that the BlueWave pulled away with four runs. Swanson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run then teammate Joely Leguizamon tripled on a 2-0 count, scoring two more runs. A sacrifice bunt by Caitlyn Berry gave FSCJ an additional run to end the inning ahead 4-1.

The top of the fifth saw the Saints working to even up the score tallying two runs. That was until Florida State College at Jacksonville answered with two of their own making it a 6-3 ballgame. The sixth would see the bats still at work by both teams as the Saints notched another two runs to bring the game within reach but FSCJ would secure what would wind up being the run needed to hold the lead. Saints determined to not let the game slip away added their final run to the scoreboard but its wasn't enough as the BlueWave pick up the second win 7-6 in game two, sweeping Santa Fe.

Hannah Dugan led things off on the rubber for FSCJ, lasting six and a third innings. Bluewave's Swanson led FSCJ with three hits in four at bats.
