Embry-Riddle Cross Country Classic

FSCJ's BlueWave cross country team traveled to Daytona Beach, FL to participate in the Embry-Riddle Cross Country Classic this past Saturday. 

The men and women's teams competed on one of the southeast's most challenging cross country courses. Former Middleburg High runner, freshman Logan Moore, led in this weeks event. Logan raced the hot and hilly 8,000 meter course in 30:25. He was followed closely by team captain, sophomore, Jaxon McKim with 30:32. Ashton Curl, Luke Williams, Christian Mayfield, Kaydan Bowie, Julio Rodriguez, Bryce Nobles, and Nathan Davis propelled the team to an 8th place team finish just behind crosstown NCAA DI rival Jacksonville University. The classic was won by Seton Hall University, an NCAA D1 college. Fifteen colleges and universities in total competed in the men's race.

The women's team raced to a 7th place finish. Finishing just ahead of the College of Central Florida, currently ranked 19th in the nation and Region 8/Mid-Florida Conference rival Lake Sumter State.  The ladies were led by a pair of sophomores; team captain Lyn Winkler and Kayleigh McWatters who were followed closely by Zahir Miller, Ashtyn Parsons, Hailey Polanco, and Tytiyonna Nesmith.

"This is a great meet and we love to race here because everywhere else seems flat compared to this", stated FSCJ cross country coach Jody Hale. "We also get to race against some very good NCAA, NAIA, and JUCO teams".

Next week the FSCJ cross country teams has a bye week before traveling to Santa Fe College to compete in the University of Florida Run Club 5k on Saturday September 30th.
