Women's cross country finish 3rd and men 4th

A late race kick by Stephanie Bautista made the difference for the Florida State College at Jacksonville's  women's cross country team yesterday beating Region 8 rival Lake-Sumter State College by one point to capture 3rd place at the Seminole Invitational.

Sophomore captain Emily Perry ran her season's best time and moved back into the team's #1 spot.  Perry was not alone in achieving her season's best times as teammates Kierten Bohm, Bautista,  Mackenzie Griffin, and Kellee Valaro knocked almost a minute and a half off their times from last week.

Men's race saw a 4th place finish by John Bear to lead the men's team to an overall 4th place finish.  Aldren Biala finished in the second position followed by the pack of Steven Gregory 26th, Gage West 27th, and Drew Stone 28th to round out the top five.  Brandon Russell had a lifetime personal record on the fast and flat course at the Seminole State College Oviedo campus.

"Great pack running from our number 3,4, and 5 men today, John Bear's very solid 4th place overall and Stephanie's kick to beat Lake Sumter by one point made for a great race effort today."

The BlueWave XC teams have a bye next week and then it's on to Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee to compete in the FSU Invitational.
