BlueWave Cross Country makes mark at FCSAA Region VIII Championship

This past weekend the Florida State College at Jacksonville BlueWave XC teams traveled to Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee to compete in the NJCAA/FCSAA Region VIII Cross-Country Championships.

The Women's team had a strong showing led by Sophomore Alexis McClung's 21st place finish. Emily Perry and Erika Calle were not deterred by the hills or the pouring rain and turned in their fastest times of the season.

The Men's 8,000m race saw 3 BlueWave Freshmen finish in the top 20. The Trio of Aldren Biala 10th, Nick Herrmann 13th, and Brandon Russell 19th propelled the Men's team to a 3rd placed finish.  Cameron Turner continued his PR streak by turning in another season's best performance.

After the race Head Coach Jody Hale said "We had some excellent performances today. I'm sorry this season is already over. These runners have been getting faster every week. I'm super excited about next year"

Apalachee Regioinal Park will host the USATF National XC Championship in 2019 and the NCAA DI XC championships in 2021 and is one of the country's preeminent venues.
