Second half surge not enough as FSCJ falls to Central Florida 70-67

Second half surge not enough as FSCJ falls to Central Florida 70-67

Florida State College at Jacksonville men's basketball hosted the Patriots of College of Central Florida in game two of conference play.

The BlueWave recently beat conference foe Eastern Florida State to put them 1-0 in conference play, while CF was currently at 2-0. This game carried a lot of weight for FSCJ as they were finding to move to the top of the Mid-Florida Conference.

The first half of play was dominated by Central Florida, as the BlueWave worked to keep in the game. A 40-29 deficit heading into halftime served as a motivator for FSCJ, as the second half sung a different tune. The BlueWave would turn the game around and challenge the Patriots bucket for bucket. The surge in energy, found the BlueWave owning the second half and outscoring CF 38-30. With seconds left on the clock and FSCJ down 70-67 with control of the ball, they would have one last opportunity to send the game into overtime. FSCJ found themselves in a very familiar scenario, several times this season they have hit the last season shot to tie or win game. However, this time the ball would fall short as the time expired and the College of Central Florida would pick up the win 70-67.

The BlueWave were led by Ja'Derryus Eatmon who had 24 points. Eatmon had a monstrous game scoring inside the paint, he also went 8-8 from the free throw line. Evan Busby had 13 points and 5 rebounds. Johnny Brown managed to grab 7 rebounds for the game.

Next for the BlueWave is a road trip next Wednesday to Daytona State College for a 7:30 p.m. tip. FSCJ will return home on Saturday to face Santa Fee College at 4:00 p.m.
