Men's basketball picks up road win

Florida State College at Jacksonville traveled to Waycross, Georgia for a two day tournament this past weekend. FSCJ would face Andrew College on day one, followed by South Georgia State College (SGSC).

The BlueWave took on Andrew College on Friday in what started as a first half battle. FSCJ chased Andrew College throughout most the first half before heading into the locker room down 33-36. The second half the BlueWave surged ahead mounting a comeback to capture their firs win of the season 77-67.

FSCJ had five players in double figures. Eddie Davis led all scorers with 20 points. Johnny Brown recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds giving him a double-double. While Jordan Mitchell dropped 12 points, Evan Busby and Samuel Jackson each had 10 points. Jackson also grabbed an additional 9 rebounds for FSCJ. It was a great team win for the BlueWave.

Day two in Waycross found the BlueWave taking on host South Georgia State College. FSCJ was slow to start from the tip and SGSC took full advantage opening up a 0-18 lead. The BlueWave worked to fight back from the deficit, but the gap was too wide to close in on bringing the halftime score to 24-37. The second half FSCJ chipped away at the lead and owned the second half outscoring South Georgia State 36-27. Unfortunately the opening minutes of the game would haunt FSCJ as they could not recover and they fell 64-60.

FSCJ was led by Evan Busby, Johnny Brown, and Eddie Davis who each had 12 points. Brown also grabbed 10 rebounds giving him another double-double for the year.

Next on the schedule finds the BlueWave at home hosting Indian River State College on Wednesday November 20th at 7:00pm.
