Florida State College at Jacksonville officially released their 2024 baseball schedule this week. The 2024 campaign will feature 52 regular season games, including 30 total conference games and 27 games within the friendly confines of Howard Roey Field. The schedule will match up the BlueWave against 13 different opponents, two of those which they did not play against in 2023.
The 2022 Region 8 and South Atlantic Champions will kick off 2024 looking to return to the NJCAA Division II World Series in Enid, Oklahoma, where the 2022 squad finished in the national semifinals. Opening Day will be against a familiar foe in northeast Florida, the Daytona State College Falcons, on Friday, January 26. The home opener will be the following day, Saturday, January 27, also against Daytona State, before welcoming fellow Jacksonville baseballers from NCAA Division II Edward Waters University for an exhibition midweek matchup on January 31.
Weekend number two (2/2-3) sees a three game series at home against Hillsborough Community College, the first matchup between the schools in at least 10 years. Edward Waters JV will travel to the north side for a midweek game on February 7. February 9-10 sees another split series against Daytona State before making the first and only trip to the state of Georgia en route to Douglas, Georgia, to play a midweek clash against South Georgia State on February 13. FSCJ will travel north once more to the state of South Carolina for the first time since 2019 to battle with the Fire Ants of USC-Sumter in a non-conference weekend three game series on February 16-17. South Georgia State will pay their return trip in a midweek game on February 20. The Sun-Lakes Conference opener will be versus Lake Sumter State College on Friday, February 23, at home, before the three game series flips to Leesburg on 2/24 for a conference doubleheader.
A midweek on 2/28 sees a home test against Edward Waters JV before tapping back into SLC play against St. Johns River State College for a split series on March 1 in Palatka and March 2 in Jacksonville (x2). A midweek challenge against Daytona State on March 5 will wrap up the five games between the two foes in 2024. FSCJ play host to on a conference clash against Pasco-Hernando State College in a rematch of the 2022 Region 8 Championship. March 8-9 for On March 15-16, FSCJ will make another long conference road trip to Lake Worth to challenge Palm Beach State College on March 15-16. On March 20, the reigning NJCAA Division I Champions College of Central Florida will welcome the Blue Wave in the first of two midweek matchups against CF. South Florida State College will make the trek north for a SLC conference series on March 22-23. March 27 sees the Blue Wave welcome the Patriots of Central Florida to Roey Field. March 29 will be a road test against Lake Sumter in Leesburg, before LSSC comes back to Jacksonville for the final time for a March 30 doubleheader.
Midweek bouts with Santa Fe on April 2 (Jacksonville) and April 9 (Gainesville) are sandwiched around a conference collision with St. Johns River on April 5 (Jacksonville) and April 6 (x2 in Palatka). Pasco welcomes their return trip to New Port Richey on April 12-13 ahead of the final midweek matchup of the season for FSCJ against Edward Waters JV at home on April 17. The penultimate SunLakes Conference series of 2023 comes with Palm Beach coming to Howard Roey Field on April 19-20 before the Blue Wave hit the road on April 26-27 for the final conference series against South Florida.
The Sun-Lakes Conference Tournament / Region 8 Tournament will take place the following weekend on May 2-5, with the host to be determined by the regular season SLC Champion. The South Atlantic District Championship will be a Best-of-3 series with the Region 22 Champion (Alabama), on May 9-12. The winner of that will head to Enid, Oklahoma, for the NJCAA Division II World Series from May 25-June 1, 2024.
