The Florida State College at Jacksonville baseball team welcomes a host of talented newcomers to couple with a seasoned group of veterans to start the journey towards Enid, Oklahoma, and a return trip to the NJCAA Division II World Series for the first time since 2022. Coming off of a rebuilding year from the last World Series run, this year's team looks poised to stand firm against the strong competition of the FCSAA and the Sun-Lakes Conference to make a run at their fifth World Series appearance.
Five FSCJ players selected to the FCSAA All-Star Game
A quintet of BlueWave baseballers were chosen to represent their school as well as the Sun-Lakes Conference in the FCSAA All-Star Game in Lakeland, Florida, at Tigertown on October 7. That weekend featured the best of the best from the junior college ranks in the state, displayed in front of a large array of professional and university scouts. These players - all sophomores - were chosen based off of their performances from their freshman seasons this past spring.
Matt Retamoza was the lone position player chosen, and played third base in the game. Retamoza hit .281 as a freshman, leading the team in batting average and having the second-most hits (43) to go along with 11 extra base hits. Four pitchers made an appearance in the All-Star Game, led by left-handed pitcher (LHP) Brady Ellison, who was a 1st-Team All-State selection as a freshman after compiling a 2.26 ERA in 59.2 innings pitched. Ellison went 5-4 with two complete games, striking out 45. Fellow LHP Noah Wood and Jaden Paradoa, along with right handed pitcher (RHP) Ethan Wilford, also pitched in the game.
Fall Schedule
FSCJ has taken part in several competition dates, in addition to 15 intrasquad contests. All home games will be played at Howard Roey Field on FSCJ's North Campus.
