CF downs FSCJ in battle of 2022 World Series representatives

OCALA, FLA. - Monday afternoon saw a battle of Florida's representatives from the 2022 NJCAA Division 1 and Division 2 World Series in Ocala between FSCJ and the College of Central Florida in the lone meeting between the two schools in 2023. 

CF 14, FSCJ 5

FSCJ broke out for a 4-0 lead after the top of the 1st, taking advantage of Patriot free passes to cash in on a Carson Womer two-RBI single and Matt Retamoza's first collegiate home run. CF responded for four of their own in the bottom of the 1st and another run in the 2nd before the BlueWave tied it at 5-5 in the top of the 3rd on a Dylan Greene RBI single. Central Florida would then put up 5 in the 3rd and 4 in the 5th to capitalize on FSCJ free passes and win the game. Kobe Wiggins had a multi-hit game. Six pitchers saw action on the mound for the Wave. Jacob Ward started (1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 BB) before giving way to Tristin Bohler, who inherited the loss on the day (0-2), throwing 1.2 innings, allowing 5 runs on 1 hit and 5 walks. Jayden Long (1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K), Ethan Wilford (0.1 IP, 0 H, 4 R, 3 BB), Noah Wood (0.2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 K), and Connor Nelson (1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 K) all saw action in relief as well.

FSCJ will travel down to Palatka for a non-conference matchup with St. Johns River State College on Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM.
