FSCJ drops two to South Georgia

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - FSCJ dropped a tough twinbill to South Georgia State College on Tuesday, by scores of 5-1 and 8-2. The losses drop their season record to 3-6.

South Georgia 5, FSCJ 1

South Georgia pounced for four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back. FSCJ only mustered one run, on a Noah Wood solo home run, the first of his career, in the bottom of the sixth. Blake Wood had a multi-hit game, and Josh Green added a double. Dylan Dudones (0-2) took the loss on the mound for the Blue Wave, going 5 innings, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Ethan Wilford was a bright spot in relief, going 2 shutout innings, striking out 4.

South Georgia 8, FSCJ 2

The visiting Hawks used a big four-run sixth inning to break open a tight early contest and take the second game of the doubleheader. After taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, SGa stretched their lead to 3-0 before FSCJ answered in the bottom of the third on a Sam Gordon RBI single, scoring Mac Wilkins to make it 3-1. A back and forth fifth inning would leave the score at 4-2 following a Wilkins RBI triple to score Carson Womer before South Georgia would take control in the sixth for an 8-2 final. Jayden Long (1-1) was the tough luck losing pitcher for the Blue Wave, going 5 innings, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. Carson Womer pitched a scoreless seventh.
