Comeback bid falls short to Santa Fe

GAINESVILLE, FLA. - FSCJ took to Gainesville on Friday to battle with Santa Fe College, coming up short of a monumental comeback bid by a score of 14-13. The loss takes the record to 3-4.

After falling down 11-0 after three innings, the Blue Wave fought all the way back to tie and even take a 13-12 lead, before ultimately falling 14-13 on a walk-off single by the Saints. A 4-spot by FSCJ in the fourth inning brought on the initial response, coming by way of RBI singles by Noah Wood and JC Medina, and an RBI fielders choice by Kobe Wiggins. Two more runs would come in the fifth on a Carson Womer two-RBI double to deep right field. Five additional runs for the Blue Wave would come in the sixth on a bases loaded walk to Jack Gidcumb, and Blake Wood, Dylan Greene, and Noah Wood RBI singles. The first and only lead of the game for FSCJ would come in the top of the seventh, on another Blake Wood RBI single and Dylan Greene sacrifice fly. The Saints would answer in the seventh and take the game for good in the ninth. Blake Wood, Noah Wood, Greene, and Medina all had multi-hit games. Andrew Veniard started for FSCJ on the mound, going 2.1 innings. Brady Ellison, Tristin Bohler, Dylan Peck, and Bryce Kemper (loss, 0-1) would combine for three earned runs out of the bullpen on the day.
