FSCJ Splits Doubleheader with South Georgia

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - FSCJ played host to South Georgia State College for a Monday afternoon doubleheader at Howard Roey Field. The Blue Wave dropped the first game 8-2 before bouncing back and winning game two 2-1. That takes the season record to 14-11 (1-2).

Game One

Game one saw an early pitcher's dual as South Georgia took a 2-1 lead into the top of the 5th inning before putting up five runs to extend their lead to 7-1. Each team added a run in the 6th inning to bring the final score to 8-2. The two Blue Wave runs came via a Barry Eiseman RBI single and a Jack Gidcumb RBI sac fly. Luka Torralva and Evan Wickeri provided a double apiece. Blake Wood took the loss for FSCJ in his second start of the year (1-1), going four innings and allowing three earned runs. 

Game Two

The bats were quiet on both sides throughout game two, resulting in a 2-1 win for FSCJ. The lone runs came from single scores in the top of the 4th inning by SGSC, and in the bottom of the 5th and 6th innings by FSCJ. FSCJ tied the game on a Blake Wood RBI single before taking the lead on an Xavier Cintron RBI sac fly. Barry Eiseman had a multi-hit game. Blue Wave starting pitcher Dylan Dudones performed well in his short stint, going 3.2 innings and striking out four, only allowing one hit and one run. Andrew Myers, Manny Reyes, and Patrick Groark combined for 3.1 shutout innings out of the bullpen. Reyes collected the his second win of the year (2-1) in two innings of relief, and Patrick Groark saved his 4th game of the year, going the final inning and striking out two. 

What's Next?

FSCJ will host Pasco-Hernando State College in a Sunlakes Conference three-game series this weekend, starting Friday at 6:00 PM at Howard Roey Field for the conference home opener.
