FSCJ takes two from Ed Waters JV

JACKSONVLLE, FLA. - FSCJ welcomed the visitors from Edward Waters University JV on Monday afternoon in the first of two matchups between the teams this spring. The Blue Wave were able to sweep the doubleheader from EWU, winning 5-0 and 11-3. These wins bring the FSCJ season record to 12-8 following the last games before starting conference play.

Game One

Game one was all about the first career start on the mound for Blake Wood. The freshman lefty kept the Tigers in check all game long, going six strong innings, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out nine while earning his first career win (1-0). Offensively, Evan Wickeri led the Wave, going 2 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI, and a walk. He put FSCJ on the board in the bottom of the 1st with an RBI single and the Blue Wave never looked back, winning 5-0. Barry Eiseman, Cam Wademan, and Jack Gidcumb also hit safely. JD Garner pitched a scoreless 7th inning, striking out two. 

Game Two

Game two saw FSCJ put up four runs in the bottom of the 1st before things turned into a back and forth affair. After EWU closed to gap to 4-3 in the top of the 4th, the Wave scored seven unanswered runs to win the game 11-3. Luka Torralva was the sparkplug offensively, going 1 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI. Hunter Bradshaw and Josh Green contributed a hit and an RBI apiece. Mason McLeod and Xavier Cintron provided one RBI each as well. Freshman righty Jacob Ward took the mound for his first career start, going 3.1 innings, allowing three runs and striking out four. Dylan Dudones picked up his first career win in relief (1-1), going 2.2 innings and striking out four. Manny Reyes pitched a scoreless inning, striking out three. 

What's Next?

FSCJ begins the conference slate this weekend on the road at Palm Beach State College for a three game series. Friday will have a 2:00 PM first pitch and Saturday will be a noon doubleheader.
