FSCJ Splits Doubleheader with USC Sumter

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - FSCJ finished off a long, five-game week on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader split against USC-Sumter. The Blue Wave took the first game 6-4 before falling in game two 5-1. The split takes the season record to 10-8.

Game One

FSCJ rode the momentum of yesterday's walk-off victory into Game One today, scoring two in the opening frame and never looking back. The Blue Wave took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st on a wild pitch and a Garrett Chun RBI groundout. The Wave then tacked on two more in the bottom of the 3rd on RBI singles from Chun and Hunter Bradshaw. USC Sumter tallied one of their own in the top of the 4th before FSCJ tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the 5th due to a wild pitch and a balk to go up 6-1. The Fire Ants scored one in the 6th and two in the 8th before Andrew Myers came in on the mound to a bases loaded jam and escaped with his first career save. Redshirt Sophomore LHP Daniel Gaviria was a workhorse on the mound for FSCJ, going seven strong innings and only allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out six. The win takes his season record to 2-2. Barry Eiseman had a big game for the Wave at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a double and two runs scored.

Game Two

The bats fell silent for FSCJ in Game Two, as they fell 5-1 to the Fire Ants of USC Sumter.
