FSCJ Drops Friday Matchup with Daytona State

FSCJ Drops Friday Matchup with Daytona State

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - The Blue Wave of FSCJ fell to Daytona State by a score of 14-4 on a hot, muggy Friday afternoon at Howard Roey Field. Miscues in all three phases led to the lopsided final score in favor of the visiting Falcons. The loss drops FSCJ to 7-6 overall on the season.

The game was tight early, as both teams went back and forth trading scores in the first, third, and fifth innings, leading to a 5-3 game before DSC pulled away in the later innings. Brian Veniard got the start on the mound for the Wave, continuing his strong start to the season by going four innings and striking out four while only allowing two runs. Daniel Gaviria (1-2) took the loss on the mound for FSCJ in his first relief outing of the season. Xavier Cintron and Jack Gidcumb both provided multi-hit and multi-RBI games at the plate.

FSCJ looks to get back on track on Monday when they hit the road to Ocala to take on the College of Central Florida to kick off a busy five game week.
