FSCJ Sweeps Doubleheader Against South Georgia

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - FSCJ continued their hot start to the season by sweeping a doubleheader Saturday against South Georgia State College by scores of 9-2 and 10-2. The Wave move to a 5-3 overall record after the weekend sweep. 

Game One

The Blue Wave took Game One by a score of 9-2 behind a stellar pitching performance from Brian Veniard and a big 5-run 5th inning. Cam Wademan opened up the scoring for the Wave with a two-out two-run single in the bottom of the 1st inning, en route to a 3-3 day at the plate. Evan Wickeri tallied two doubles in the game. Barry Eiseman and Blake Wood tacked on two-RBI doubles each. Veniard improved to 2-0 after throwing 5.1 innings and only giving up two runs. Manny Reyes closed it out going 1.2 scoreless innings.

Game Two

FSCJ took Game Two by a score of 10-2. It was an early pitchers dual that saw the Blue Wave down 2-1 going into the bottom of the 5th inning before FSCJ scored 4 in the 5th and 5 in the 6th to run away with the ballgame. Evan Wickeri had the early run on a solo home run in the 2nd inning. It was a total team effort late in the game, pounding out 13 hits. Barry Eiseman recorded his NJCAA Division 2-leading 8th double of the spring. Hunter Bradshaw capped off the late game explosion with a grand slam deep into the left field sky for his first career homer. Dylan Dudones grinded through 4 innings, only allowing 1 earned run. Andrew Myers was the pitcher of record, improving to 2-0 in relief of Dudones. Patrick Groark recorded his first career save after entering into a jam in the top of the 6th with the Wave up 5-2, going 1.2 innings with three strikeouts.
