Big Inning Pushes Central Florida Past FSCJ

Big Inning Pushes Central Florida Past FSCJ

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- A big 6-run third inning pushed the College of Central Florida Patriots past the FSCJ Blue Wave 8-3 on a chilly Monday afternoon at Howard Roey Field. The Wave took an early 3-0 lead after the first inning, but were unable to hold on after a bases clearing double highlighted the big third inning for the Pats. The 6-3 score held until the 7th inning, when CF capitalized on a Blue Wave fielding error to score two more runs, leading to the 8-3 final. Colby Lipovsky took the loss on the mound for FSCJ, giving up 6 runs in 3 innings. Garrett Chun continued his hot start at the plate, going 3 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI. Barry Eiseman and Jack Gidcumb provided a double each. The bullpen added a spark throughout the game, going 6 innings and not giving up any earned runs. Jacob Ward and JD Garner made their season debuts for the Wave on the mound, both having scoreless appearances.

FSCJ falls to 2-3 overall on the young season, and will host ABAC on Friday at 3:00 PM and South Georgia State College for a Saturday doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM.
