2019 FSCJ BlueWave Baseball Season Preview

2019 FSCJ BlueWave Baseball Season Preview

The 2019 season is coming quickly upon us. The Bluewave Baseball team is returning 10 players from last year's roster. This core group is complemented by some new freshmen that could make big strides to help Bluewave Baseball make a run at the Region 8 State Tournament.

Key returners on the FSCJ roster include: Trey Spratling-Williams (2nd Team All-MFC, UNF commit), Quinton Brehm (UNF commit), Tyler Naumann (JU commit) and Chad Ragland (Delta State commit). Uncommitted returners looking to make and impact this season include hitters Sebastian Dunn, Austin Morton, Phillip Woullard, Logan Nugent, and pitcher Dalton Terrell.

Returning arms bring a wealth of experience with 45% of innings thrown in 2018's campaign. Led by Quinton Brehm and his 46.1 Inn, 4.27 ERA, 2:1 K:BB ratio. Current Bluewave Sophomores accounted for 122 runs, 110 RBI, 44 XBH, and a .339 OBP at the plate last year. Trey Spratling-Williams headed the lineup providing 25 R, 22 RBI, 9 XBH, .340 avg. and .415 OBP.

New faces for the Bluewave include a tandem behind the dish in Alex Luscombe (Master's Academy) and Tyler Prell (Riverdale). Chris Ragosta (Hagerty), Jordan Briones (Stanton Prep), and Gabriel Sevillano (Mandarin) look to be a trio of young arms that can complement the pitching staff this season. Also out in the field, A.J. Orrico (Santaluces) will provide a lot of flexibility on the defensive side.

Bluewave Baseball open up their regular season on the road at Daytona State College on January 25th at 2pm. The Mid-Florida Conference opening series will commence March 8th against College of Central Florida.
