Beach Volleyball Makes Debut in Bradenton

Florida State College at Jacksonville Athletics finally debuts FSCJ Beach Volleyball in Bradenton, Florida.

The FSCJ beach volleyball team took to the road for it's inaugural season. The team made their debut in Bradenton, Florida at the Upper Manatee River Complex. The team competed with four pairs at 10:00 a.m. versus the State College of Florida (SCF) Manatees and then at 12:00 p.m. versus the St. Johns River State College (SJRSC) Vikings.

The team fell short on the road 0-5 but pair, Abigail Bucci and Carlie Vining took a set off the SCF #4 pair. "This was a great weekend to get our toes wet." said first year beach volleyball coach Chelsea Hinck. "It was also an opportunity to see other beach teams in our conference perform. We progressed and worked through the nerves getting two matches under our belt."

Next the FSCJ beach volleyball headed back on the road Friday, February 16th to Tavares, Florida. There they would compete at the Hickory Point Beach Complex against the Lake-Sumter State College Lakehawk at 11:00 a.m. and then take on the State College of Florida Manatees once again at 1:00 p.m.

"Our four pairs competed and improved from the previous week." Said Coach Hinck. "The beach teams in our conference are competitive and it really allows us to see the game played. We fell short again 0-5, but pair Marissa Hauser and Martina Soler Marti took a set off SCF #2 pair. Our pairs are working hard to keep connections consistent and to stay grounded during the game."

The FSCJ beach volleyball team will be the road again for the 3rd week in a row, traveling to West Palm Beach to take on the Palm Beach State College Panthers (defending NJCAA DII Beach National Champions) on Friday, February 23rd in a dual match.
