FSCJ Beach Volleyball is on the Horizon this Weekend

FSCJ Beach Volleyball is on the Horizon this Weekend

Florida State College at Jacksonville beach volleyball debuts for the first in history season this weekend. FSCJ will travel to Bradenton, Florida to take on the State College of Florida Manatees and the St. John's River Vikings in a tri-match.

FSCJ beach teams consist of four pairs (eight players) that all hail from the FSCJ indoor volleyball program except for transfer Carlie Vining that started with FSCJ at semester.

FSCJ has worked hard to solidify two practice locations for the beach season where the team trains four times per week. Sports Edge Beach in St. John's County and UNF's Beach Complex – The Coop right across the street from FSCJ's South Campus are now the home beach courts for the FSCJ program this season. In preparation for the opening beach season, the players have been been utilizing time in the weight room and getting out in the sand as much as possible.

"We are trying to establish a healthy start for our team as we kick off this weekend down in South Florida" said head coach Chelsea Hinck. "It is important to prepare our pairs that are familiar with beach, and teach those who are not, all the logistics that come with the game. Beach and indoor are two different sports. We are adapting to new rules, the weather and the complex strategies of beach. The duos are ready and excited to kickoff this inaugural season."

With the 2024 beach season set to begin this weekend, the FSCJ schedule shows consecutive matches on the road for the next three Fridays. FSCJ beach volleyball is set to begin the first match at 10:00 am against State College of Florida and St. Johns River at 12:00pm at the Upper River Manatee Complex.
