Ellison, Wood named to All-SunLakes Conference Teams

The SunLakes Conference of the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) released its All-Conference baseball teams on Tuesday, which included two members of the Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) Blue Wave squad. Freshman Brady Ellison was named to the 1st Team as a Pitcher, and sophomore Blake Wood was named to the Gold Glove defensive team as an Outfielder.

Left-handed pitcher Brady Ellison finished his freshman campaign among the best in the sunshine state in numerous pitching categories. The local product from Trinity Christian Academy boasted a 2.26 ERA on the season, good for not only best on the FSCJ team but second-best in Region 8 (DII). He also led the Blue Wave with 59.2 innings pitched on the season, only allowing 49 hits and 15 earned runs to go along with 23 walks and 45 strikeouts, including two complete games. He allowed two earned runs or less in 13 of 15 appearances. 53.1 of his innings were pitched in conference play to a tune of a 2.53 ERA. Ellison pitched into the seventh inning or beyond four times in 2023. The crafty lefty hopes to build upon his rookie success as he heads into his sophomore year at FSCJ in 2024.

Outfielder Blake Wood completed his FSCJ career on a high note as he was named to the Gold Glove All-Defensive team of the SunLakes Conference. The two-year starting centerfielder for the Blue Wave was a catalyst in the outfield for a whopping 98 games in his career, producing defensively at a fielding percentage of .991 for his career, making only two errors in 231 total chances. Wood also recorded 10 outfield assists in his two seasons to go along with 219 putouts. He made countless diving plays and run-saving efforts, none bigger than as a freshman on the 2022 World Series team for FSCJ. Blake will continue his career at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama, for the next two seasons.
