The FSCJ BlueWave Women's Volleyball Team defeated the NJCAA #1 nationally ranked Miami Dade College Volleyball team in today's second round of the FCSAA Region VIII Tournament.

 

The win broke Miami Dade's three season 69 match winning streak and knocked the reigning two time National Champions into the loser's bracket of the Region VIII Tournament.  The last time the Sharks of Miami Dade lost was to Palm Beach State on October 24, 2016. 

 

Earlier in the day FSCJ defeated NJCAA #10 nationally ranked St. Petersburg College 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-21).   The BlueWave were led in both wins by Nicolette Ramos (Jacksonville, FL/Sandalwood HS) with 34 kills and Maria Mancinelli (Gioraoano Bruno/Deruta, Italy) with 22 kills.  Jana Cuk (Valjevska Bimnazija/Valjevo, Serbia) had 8 blocks and Karen Morales (Camrmela Larrain Infante/Santiago, Chile) had 7 blocks and 18 kills for the two matches. 

 

The BlueWave will take on Polk State College at 3:00pm on Saturday.  One more win in the FCSAA Region VIII tournament will solidify a bid for the BlueWave to the NJCAA National Championship November 15-17 in Hutchinson, Kansas
