BlueWave Sophomore Outside Hitter Nicolette Ramos (Sandalwood HS: Jacksonville, FL) has been named Week 5 FCSAA/Region VIII Player of the Week and Freshman Libero Krystal Santiago (Corozal, Puerto Rico / Academia Santa Teresita) has been named Week 5 FCSAA/Region VIII Defensive Player of the Week. 

Ramos earned Player of the Week after compiling 38 kills in 7 sets and 20 digs while hitting .329 against conference foes Santa Fe State College and Pensacola State College.  Ramos is currently 3^rd in the nation (NJCAA) and 1^st in Region VIII in kills per set with 4.10 average.  In addition, she is currently 2^nd in the NJCAA in points per set at 4.9 (leads the region as well).  

Santiago earned her way into the 25+ dig club with 30 digs in 4 sets versus conference foe Santa Fe State College.  She had a total of 41 digs in two matches versus conference foes Santa Fe State College and Pensacola State College averaging 5.9 digs per set in the matches this past weekend.

The FSCJ Volleyball Team moved up to 8^th in the region weekly poll after defeating #10 nationally ranked (3^rd in the region) conference foe Santa Fe State College last Friday night in Gainesville 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-15, 25-22) and Pensacola State 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-16). 

The BlueWave will return to action following the postponement of their remaining two conference matches due to Hurricane Michael. Stay tuned for the rescheduled dates.
