Women's final home game cancelled / Sophomores still to be honored

Women's final home game cancelled / Sophomores still to be honored

Florida State College at Jacksonville women's basketball program will wrap up their season tonight with a game cancellation due to injuries.

The BlueWave have had a rough go this season with a shortened game schedule, reduced roster numbers, COVID protocols and injuries. Tonight's game became in question after last Saturdays game versus Hillsborough when two of FSCJ's starters were taken out of the game due to injuries and third played through. Hoping that a few days rest would give the BlueWave the opportunity to finish out the season, FSCJ made the call this morning due to safety concerns.

The BlueWave went 2-17 this season and 0-11 in conference play with a roster that never exceeded eight players. The women's basketball program consisted of five returners and three starters from previous season. There is no doubt that had the BlueWave had a deeper roster things may have been different for this experienced team.

BlueWave Athletics will be honoring these sophomores during the halftime of tonight men's game scheduled to tip-off at 7:30pm. Please come out and help us celebrate the careers of Bryana Henderson, Mataea Boyd and Jayde Johnson
