DME Academy Ousts FSCJ, 84-72

 

Florida State College at Jacksonville played host to DME Academy in their last home non-conference game.  

The BlueWave led from the opening whistle and on for the first nine minutes of competition, but DME got out in front for the first time at 20-19 with one minute remaining in the opening frame. DME then began to get hot in the second quarter thanks to guard Channing Chappell's 19-first half points, putting DME ahead at the half, 46-41 heading into the locker room. 

FSCJ would regroup in the locker room and come out more effective in the second half defensively, holding DME to just over 30 percent from the floor. The visitors posted nine threes and scored 32 points off turnovers to secure the game. FSCJ outrebounded DME and posted 19 more points off the bench than its opponent, but the visitors held off the BlueWave, 84-72. 

Four FSCJ players scored in double figures in the loss, led by guard Joseline Ramos's 18 points. The guard also brought went 7 for 11 from the floor, had 5 assists and eight boards. Tykedra Rolland secured eight rebounds.

FSCJ will open up conference play in a double header with the men this Saturday as they play host to the College of Central Florida. Women will tipoff at 2:00 pm and the men at 4:00 pm.
