Florida State College at Jacksonville women's basketball recorded its second win in day two of the Daytona State Classic versus visiting Bryant & Stratton from Virginia. 

The BlueWave faced a very scrappy, athletic and big Bryant & Stratton team on New Year's Eve. FSCJ started the first quarter on fire with a couple three point baskets from downtown and played solid defense.  The BlueWave would find themselves dominating the first quarter to take a 16-6 lead at the end of the first. Bryant & Stratton opened the second quarter with back to back threes and would close the gap after a 20-9 run on the BlueWave. Bryant & Stratton would take the lead over FSCJ 26-25 to bounce back and take a one point lead.  

The BlueWave would start the third quarter just as they did the first quarter and make some big defensive plays down the stretch.  Freshmen Tykedra Rolland and Jayde Johnson would take two big charges that would shift the momentum the BlueWave way. After a 21-13 run by FSCJ, the BlueWave would regain the lead by seven heading into the final quarter ahead 46-39.  Rhykeria Rolland would catch fire in the fourth quarter and go 5 for 7 from behind the arc to give FSCJ some breathing room. FSCJ would show some growth and resiliency through the fourth quarter, making key freethrows down the stretch to close out the last day of the Daytona State Classic with a win over Bryant & Stratton 62-53. 

 "This was another good team win for this group," Coach David Lowery stated. "It's nice to end 2019 and be on a two-game win streak. Rhykeria, Tykedra, and Asia we're great today and we are going to need that to continue as we head into conference play. It was great to see Joesline Ramos step into the role as point guard and lead this team as well.

Two players for the Florida State College at Jacksonville women' s basketball program finish with double double's. Freshman Mataea Boyd had 21 points and 12 rebounds, along side her was guard Asia Harden with 10 points and 10 assists.
