Season-High Turnovers Dooms BlueWave on the road

Season-High Turnovers Dooms BlueWave on the road

What look to be the start of a great game turned into an FSCJ women's basketball team turnover fest. With a total of 33 turnovers, Tallahassee Community College (TCC) walked away with a 101-63 with over the BlueWave Saturday afternoon.

FSCJ opened the game with a three nothing advantage when Victoria Smalls connected from downtown off an assist from Joseline Ramos.  TCC would come down and answer off a drive to the basket from Sedayjha Payne.  It would be a back and forth battle in the first quarter.  The BlueWave's largest lead would be four in the first quarter off a three-point make from Rhy'Keria Rolland.  Tallahassee would eventually hit a couple freethrows and score a two-point field goal to tie it up at 17-17 to end the first quarter.

After the BlueWave shot only 23.5 percent from the field in the quarter, FSCJ's turnover woes would allow TCC to capitalize. The Eagles would win the second quarter after a 29-5 run on the BlueWave. FSCJ would head to the locker room giving the Eagles a commanding 46-22 advantage.

The second half would see a bit more aggressive BlueWave team out the gate, but Tallahassee was ready to extend its lead and were off to a 7-2 scoring spurt to the open the half.  Despite FSCJ's offensive improvement, turnovers continued to plague the BlueWave giving TCC the go ahead and the Eagles never looked back with a 101-63 win.

The BlueWave were led in scoring by Aasiya Berry and Valicia Demeritte contributing 10 points and Victoria Smalls followed close behind with 9 points.

FSCJ will travel south to take on Eastern Florida State College Tuesday, November 12th at 7 p.m.
