For the 3rd meet this season the FSCJ BlueWave Cross-country team has had a different leader. John Bear held the #1 spot at the 1st meet on the beach at the Daytona State College Beach Relay. The 2nd week saw former Nease High runner, Adrian Figueroa, lead the BlueWave at the Border Clash hosted by Valdosta State University. This past Saturday saw former Bartram Trail high school runner, Brennan Popik, lead the BlueWave with an excellent time of 20:39 for 6k at the University of Florida's Mountain Dew XC Invitational.
"I've never had a season where we had 3 different #1 runners in one season much less 3 different #1 runners in 3 meets." commented Head Coach Jody Hale. When asked who he thought the #1 runner is Hale said, "Not sure, maybe we'll find out on Friday."
For the 3rd meet in a row women's team captain Hannah Ziegler lead the BlueWave XC followed by Hailey Smith, Meghan Bonser, Kayla Konnick, and Abigail Gray rounded out the top 5 on the 4k course at UF.
This week the BlueWave's Men's and Women's teams compete Friday evening at the Alligator Lake Invitational in Lake City Florida.
