Freshmen John Bear and Ally Newkirk led the FSCJ BlueWave men's and women's cross-country teams to a strong 4th place finish at the NCJCAA Region 8/FSCAA State Championships on the hilly course at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.
Tyler DeSando had his best performance of the season moving into the teams 3rd position and running a PR (personal record). Lucas Van Ginkel and Matt Meeker also set personal records to end the season.
"A strong finish to our best season yet. Several key athletes from both teams are graduating in the spring. But we've got some great runners coming back next year. I'm especially pleased by the women's team's performance. Last year we didn't have a full team and this year we beat Tallahassee Community College, South Florida State, Pensacola State, Chipola, Lake Sumter and Florida Gateway. "
