Cross Country team filled with personal record times at FSU Invitational

Florida State College at Jacksonville traveled to Tallahassee, Florida to for the Florida State University Invitational. FSCJ's freshmen Ally Newkirk, a product of Bishop Snyder High School, led the BlueWave women's cross country team to a season's best time. Her performance helped to contribute to a strong showing at the FSU Invitational held at Apalachee Regional Park. 

Kiersten Bohm (Bartram Trail) Kellee Valaro (Duval Charter) each set personal records. Stephanie Bautista (Lake Region High) and Makenzie Griffin (Yulee High) ran season's best times to edge out NJCAA Region 8 rivals Florida Gateway College, Chipola College, and Pensacola State. 

The men's cross country team had a great day with five of their runner's under thirty minutes and setting seven personal records on the hilly 8k course. John Bear (Orange Park High) 27:18, Aldren Biala (Bishop Snyder High) 28:38, Gage West (Fleming Island High) 28:39, Brandon Russel (Atlantic Coast High) 29:57 and Drew Stone (Bartram Trail) 29:58. 

Cross country coach Joseph Hale was excited about his runners performance stating, "Nine best personal records, incredible. We were lucky to have great weather, some great competition and solid racing today." Considered one the souths biggest races, 65 teams competed on the course that will host the NCAA Division 1 National Cross Country Championship in 2021.

In a short two weeks the BlueWave Cross-Country team will be back to Tallahassee to the Apalachee Regional Park for the NJCAA Region 8 Championships.
