BlueWave Cross Country set to open their season

BlueWave Cross Country set to open their season

In their season opener and 1st competition in over 20 years the FSCJ men's BlueWave, led by Bishop Snyder High School alumnus Aldren Baiala (27:58.6) helped the combined Florida Colleges team defeat the College teams from Georgia in the Border Clash Cross-Country Invitational hosted by Valdosta State University.

The men's team also had a strong 8th place finish in the overall men's college/university division.  Also competing for the BlueWave where Nick Hermann (Yulee High School) Brandon Russell (Atlantic Coast High) Mathew Lava (Orage Park High) and Alex Gall (Yulee high).

Alexis McClung (Bishop Snyder High) led the women's team with an excellent time of 22:32 on the hilly course at Freedom Park in Valdosta.  A torrential downpour just prior to the start left the course in less than ideal conditions but the BlueWave competed well in this 1st meet of the new season against 22 other colleges/universities. The combined team of Florida colleges defeated the combined team of Georgia Colleges in the women's division also.

Next the BlueWave will compete Friday evening at the University of North Florida Invitational.
