FSCJ Cross Country faces challenging UNF Osprey Invitational

The men and women's cross country teams of Florida State College at Jacksonville participated in the UNF Osprey Invitational.

A broken water main just hours before the start of the UNF Osprey Invitational event turned the flat and normally fast course into a very challenging race. The wet conditions did not deter FSCJ's #1 runner freshman Aldren Biala from turning in an excellent time of 18:15 and leading Nick Hermann, Brandon Russell, Matthew Lava and Alex Gall to an 9th place overall in the men's competition just behind Jacksonville University. UNF narrowly defeated the University of Florida to win the men's race.

In the Women's race the Lady Gator's prevailed over host team UNF to win the Women's race. For the 2nd week in a row sophomore Alexis McClung maintained her #1 stop and sped to an excellent time of 12:37 over the 3k course to led the FSCJ Women's BlueWave team of Emily Perry (13:42),  Erika Calle (15:20) and Mackenzie Griffin (15:22). A special shout out to Erika Calle for her excellent performance in her 1st cross-country race since 2012.

Next week the BlueWave travels to Embry-Riddle University to compete at the "Hardest Course in Florida" in the Embry-Riddle Ascis Invitational.
