Florida State College at Jacksonville BlueWave holds off Daytona State College for first win of the season

In the opening game of the season the Florida State College at Jacksonville BlueWave traveled to Daytona State College in Daytona Beach, FL to face the Falcons.

FSCJ got things moving in the third inning after a quiet couple of innings. Alex Luscombe drove in one when he singled. In the bottom of the fourth the Falcons would add another two runs and one more in the fifth before FSCJ's bats start taking over. The BlueWave would take the lead for good with five runs in the sixth inning. DeJuan Patterson II drew a walk to score one run, Ragland doubled on the first pitch of the at bat scoring two more runs and Austin Morton doubled on a 2-2 count scoring another two runs giving the BlueWave a 6-3 lead. The top of the seventh and eighth inning brought a total of four more runs for FSCJ before the Falcons would make a last attempt at erasing the deficit by crossing over home plate with five more runs. Florida State College at Jacksonville held on for a 10-8 victory over Daytona state College on Friday.

FSCJ were boosted by Chad Ragland who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Ragland singled in the first, doubled in the fifth, doubled in the sixth, and singled in the seventh. The BlueWave gathered 14 hits in the game. Ragland, Morton, Luscombe, and AJ Orrico all had multiple hits for FSCJ. Ragland went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

Chris Ragosta started the game for the FSCJ BlueWave. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over two innings, striking out two. Brandon Cruz pitched the BlueWave to victory. He allowed three hits and three runs over four and a third innings, striking out four and walking one. Liam Dillinger, Dalton Terrell, and Quinton Brehm all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Brehm recorded the last out to earn the save for FSCJ.

The FSCJ BlueWave totaled 14 hits in the game. Ragland, Morton, Luscombe, and AJ Orrico all had multiple hits. Ragland went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
