FSCJ Athletics Lending a Paw at Local Humane Society

FSCJ Athletics Lending a Paw at Local Humane Society

Florida State College at Jacksonville women's volleyball and men's basketball teams volunteered at the Jacksonville Humane Society.

The FSCJ athletic teams arrived at the Jacksonville Humane Society at 7:45am for a safety meeting with Shelby Duncan, Jacksonville Humane Society head volunteer manager. During that time she met with the student-athletes to discuss safety dog protocol. They reviewed the rules for walking the dogs, playing field, waste cleanup and the morning agenda of events until 10:00am.

The teams worked in pairs to meet the dogs and walk them around the facility. Each pair had treat bags and spent time socializing with each pup they were given. The teams managed to take between 50-60 adoptable dogs of all different breeds and personalities for walks during their time there.

The dogs were showered with attention, treats and lots of love early Monday morning by both teams.
