Walker brings experience to FSCJ volleyball sideline

Amy Walker will be joining Chelsea Hinck's staff at Florida State College at Jacksonville and will serve as an assistant volleyball coach. An impactful member of the Jacksonville community since 1997, she is a veteran teacher and coach with over 25 years of experience.

Coach Walker was a two-sport collegiate athlete graduating from The University of West Alabama. She began her coaching career at Sumpter Academy in Livingston, Alabama where she made two state final appearances enroute to winning the state championship in 1997. Walker moved to Jacksonville in 1997 where she began coaching at Orange Park High School before transferring to Fleming Island High School in 2014. Walker's coaching achievements include several playoff appearances over the years sending numerous athletes on to play at the collegiate level.

Coach Walker's resume also includes over 20 years of coaching at the club level. Walker served as head coach at both the youth national and upper national levels with Jacksonville Juniors Volleyball Association under the leadership of Mary Andrews, long-time prolific coach at FSCJ and former owner of JJVA. Walker's club achievements include several GJNC appearances highlighted by a 3rd place finish at the national tournament in 2017 and a 5th place finish in 2018. Coach Walker transitioned to the 904 Elite Volleyball Club in 2021 and currently serves as the club's assistant director.

Her journey has now come full circle as she joins a staff with two of her former players - assistant coach Megan Crawford and head coach Chelsea Hinck.

"I am very excited to add Amy to our coaching staff here at Florida State College at Jacksonville," said head coach Chelsea Hinck. "Her experience and skill set are exactly what our new program needs. I believe her enthusiasm for the game and her level of professionalism will contribute greatly to FSCJ Volleyball and the future of our program. It is a full circle moment to have Amy in my corner and helping to rebuild this program to a premium standard. I am excited to see what we will do together and where the FSCJ indoor and beach volleyball teams will be in the future."
