Chelsea Hinck selected to lead FSCJ volleyball program

Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) Athletic Director Jerry Thor has announced the hiring of Chelsea Hinck as the new Volleyball Coach. Coach Hinck returns to Jacksonville after spending the last six seasons with Williston State College in North Dakota.

During Coach Hinck's time at Williston State College, she led the NJCAA Division II program on and off the court to an impressive standing. Her student-athletes were consistently named to the Academic Team, President's and Dean's Lists, and selected to the Mon-Dak All-Conference Team. She also assisted her student-athletes in moving on to the next level both academically and athletically.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Hinck as the new leader of FSCJ Volleyball," Jerry Thor said. "She brings experience as a head coach at the college level as well as connections across Northeast Florida. I look forward to seeing the strong bonds she develops with her team and with members of our passionate volleyball community."

Hinck is a Florida native that has lived in Williston, North Dakota since April 2018 when she joined Williston State College. In 2014, Hinck began her coaching career at Ridgeview High School, helping to lead their varsity team to four district championships, as an assistant coach and head junior varsity coach (2014-18). Throughout the year, she also coached and traveled with area club programs, 904 Elite Volleyball Club and North Florida Pirates Volleyball Club.

"I am very eager to lead the women's indoor and beach program at FSCJ," said Hinck. "I feel very fortunate to get back to my roots right here on the east coast, right where it all started over 20 years ago in the heart of Jacksonville for myself. This city is a premier area for the volleyball world and I am thrilled to get this new chapter started."

"I want to express my sincere gratitude towards Athletic Director Jerry Thor and Women's Basketball Coach Diana Couch for their enormous support during this transition. I am very confident in what this team is bringing to the table and the coaching staff we have rolling in. I look forward to bringing a high energy and infectious culture that starts a new legacy for FSCJ Indoor and Beach Volleyball."

Hincks volleyball playing career started at Ridgeview High School. In the off-season, she played club volleyball in the Jacksonville area with JJVA, Blaze and CCVA from 2003-10 and beach volleyball on the east coast from 2005-10. She was then recruited to Gulf Coast State College to play indoor/beach volleyball.

Coach Hinck graduated with her Associate in Arts from Gulf Coast State College and went on to attain her Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
