FSCJ Volleyball picks up first conference win versus Pensacola

The FSCJ BlueWave Volleyball Team celebrated Sophomore Day this past Saturday in the win versus Pensacola State College (26-24, 25-23, 25-14).

The three sophomores are leading the way for the BlueWave this year (from left to right):

Nicolette Ramos (Sandalwood HS/Jacksonville, FL) has surpassed last season's number of kills for the season and leads the BlueWave with 282 so far this season (193 total in 2017).  Ramos also has accumulated 389 digs in two season for the BlueWave and will be one of the most successful outside hitters to wear an FSCJ uniform.  She is the only returning All-Conference and All-Region player for FSCJ. Ramos is working on her Bachelor's degree at FSCJ (she earned an AA last December) in Logistics.

Jennifer Torres-Perez has accumulated 387 digs in two seasons thus far for the BlueWave.  Torres-Perez stepped in this year to set the offense due to injuries and also has 38 total aces in two seasons.  Torres-Perez (Trinity Christian Academy/Jacksonville, FL) holds a 3.5 GPA and has been a highly decorated student athlete at FSCJ with a goal to become a neurosurgeon and attend Xavier University after her two years at FSCJ.

New to FSCJ this year is transfer Middle Hitter sophomore Karen Morales (Carmela Larrain Infante/Santiago, Chile), who is leading the team this season with 1.13 blocks per set/85 total blocks.  Karen is majoring in BioMedical Sciences at FSCJ.
